1. Introduction

Bestlife Insurance Limited terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations of the Funeral Policy for Zamtel Clients. By purchasing Bestlife life funeral Assurance products, Zamtel clients agree to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions.

This Funeral Assurance contract is between Zamtel clients who purchase the Zamtel data bundles with insurance or Zamtel airtime with the option of insurance. Bestlife Insurance Limited will cover the Zamtel clients in the event of the untimely death of the policyholder.

2. Definitions

  • Policyholder: An owner of a Zamtel registered sim card who holds an insurance policy with Bestlife Insurance through the Zamtel platform.
  • Insured: A Zamtel subscriber whose life is covered under the funeral policy.
  • Beneficiary: The person designated to receive the policy benefits upon the occurrence of the insured event.
  • Premium: The amount payable by the policyholder to maintain the insurance benefits.
  • Policy: Funeral Assurance Policy.

3. Eligibility

To purchase a policy, you must be a registered Zamtel subscriber and meet the age and health criteria specified for the product.

The insurance benefit shall only apply to the registered owner of the sim card between the age of 16 and 75 at the commencement date of the policy.

Eligibility for this funeral insurance policy is restricted to individuals not currently receiving hospice or palliative care. Any applicant who is receiving hospice care, defined as care provided for individuals diagnosed with a terminal illness or for whom curative treatment is no longer pursued, will be deemed ineligible for coverage. If it is determined that an individual was receiving such care at the time of policy activation, any claim for death benefits will be limited to a refund of premiums paid, without interest.

4. Coverage

The coverage provided under this policy is detailed below:

Policy coverage commences only after the purchase of Zamtel bundle with embedded funeral cover.

6. Claims

In the event of a claim, the beneficiary or next of kin must notify Bestlife Insurance Limited as soon as possible and submit the following claim supporting documents:

  • Claim form duly completed together with any of the following documents:
    • Certified copy of medical certificate of cause of death plus NRC
    • Death certificate plus NRC
    • Police report for BID, Burial Permit (for police case) plus NRC
    • Written confirmation and stamped letter of death by Chief or village headman (for remote villages where documents are not easily obtainable)
  • Certified NRC copy.

All valid death claims are settled within 24 hours upon receipt of all claim supporting documents.

All claims must be submitted to Bestlife Insurance by the next of kin using the following channels:

Death claims must be notified to Bestlife immediately upon the family representative learning about the death of the member. Claims notified to Bestlife Insurance after 180 days from the date of death will not be valid for settlement. The company reserves the right to investigate and verify claims before settlement.

7. Exclusions

No sum assured under this person’s Life shall be payable by the insurer if the death of the Life Assured resulted directly or indirectly from:

  • Intentional self-inflicted injury, suicide, or suicide attempt (whether sane or insane)
  • War, whether declared or not, warlike action, civil war, or insurrection
  • Engaging in aviation other than as a fare-paying passenger on a regular route of a recognized airline
  • Death due to pre-existing conditions within one (1) month from the commencement of the policy

9. Policy Renewal and Termination

Policies are renewable upon payment of renewal premium. Bestlife Insurance Limited reserves the right to terminate the policy in cases of fraud, misrepresentation, or non-payment of premiums.

10. Confidentiality and Data Protection

Bestlife Insurance Limited is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our clients’ personal information. Personal data will be collected, used, and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

11. Amendments

Bestlife Insurance Limited reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Changes will be communicated to policyholders through Zamtel.
